Summer means days swimming in the ocean. I love the smell of salty air, warm sand between my toes and the peacefulness that stems from watching the waves ebb and flow.
During summer 2020, all the beaches were closed due to Covid so I began conjuring ocean memories using the Cyanotype process.

These are photographs unmoored from the physical world. I am drawing with light, chemistry and time to ameliorate the sadness of distance.

Each unique Cyanotype is a different mental and emotional reenactment. Like all memories, they have their flaws however, the process fostered a joyful liberation from quarantine days.
